The Canadian Bar Association - Newfoundland and Labrador Branch (CBA-NL) welcomes the steps taken by the provincial government to change the name of the Department of Public Safety to the Department of Justice and Public Safety.
“CBA-NL was concerned with the September 30, 2014 announcement to rename the Department of Justice to the Department of Public Safety. We are very pleased with Premier Davis’s announcement this afternoon and we thank the Premier for listening to members of the legal community and for responding promptly,” says CBA-NL Immediate Past President Cheryl Mullett.
The Canadian Bar Association is dedicated to supporting the rule of law, improvements in the law, and the administration of justice. Some 37,000 lawyers, law teachers, and law students from across Canada are members.
